Founding member, Stuart Smith, recorded a solo album back in 2008-2009. That album was the impetus to form the band Stooch. So after 20+ as a lead singer primarily in hard rock bands in Southern California and Austin, TX Stuart wrote a far mellower album that blended all the influences that were not coming through in the hard rock projects he was involved with. Having always loved bands like The Eagles, The Allman Brothers and other Southern Rock legends like Lynard Skynard, Stuart wrote a vocal centric album driven by the aforementioned influences. The album, Breathe, was released in 2009 and features a variety of local Austin musicians. Two of the contributors to the album, Jonas Lorence and Tim Casterline, later came on board as full time players with the band Stooch. The final piece of the puzzle, drummer Javi Moctezuma joined up and Stooch was up and running. So far, the musical outfit that features a full original set along with a long list of classic rock, blues and country covers, has played a handful of shows throughout the Central Texas music scene. The short term goal for the band is to develop a loyal fan base here in Austin and then to expand throughout the great state of Texas in 2011!
