The Apollo Effect / Bio

"Ours is nothing more than a timeless rock and roll story. It stands as a testament to the commitment and conviction we feel we share through our music".

Originally formed in Toronto in 2005, the band is a product of the fortuitous collision of three East Coast ex-pats. Founded by New Brunswick native singer/songwriter Brent Lunney, the band hit its stride with the addition of guitarist and Nova Scotia native Shawn Van de Sande. Two years later another New Brunswick native, bassist Jason Harvey, appeared and the heart of the group was established.

In September 2007, The Apollo Effect defeated over 400 other acts from across Canada to win The Great Canadian Band Challenge. In 2008, they were finalists in the 97.7 HTZ FM Rock Search. 2009 brought the boys back to their roots with a brilliant showcase performance at the East Coast Music Awards in Newfoundland.

TAE has performed with Our Lady Peace, Finger Eleven, The Trews, Die Mannequin, Mobile, and Arkells.

Their songs have been prominently featured on TV and through advertisements on networks such as MTV, ESPN, HBO and The Movie Network (Canada), and have appeared in such shows as The Kardashians, Real World Challenge, and more recently Degrassi: The Next Generation. The success of this exposure has garnered the band attention and a growing fanbase across the United States.

Now focused on the release of their new record , Brent explains where the band is both musically and spiritually. “Escape Plan is a departure from the style of record that was Antisocial Disorder. We’re trying something completely different for us; our influences and experiences will be more evident on this record. These are the most personal songs we’ve ever written."
