The Wookiees / Bio

The Wookiees are four nuts from Warrington that feel there is a need to change the music industry. Getting influences from Funk, Rock and the down right strange, The Wookiees have become Warrington's most respected and only diverse Funk band. Having spread their sound across the North-West of England, they are now on the hunt to break free from the same locations.
So far they have blown the roofs off venues in Warrington, Manchester, Crewe, Liverpool, Chester, Runcorn and Wigan (+ many more) and supported bands such as Goldie Lookin' Chain, The Amazing Kappa, Twenty Twenty and shared Festivals with Pulled Apart By Horses, Hadouken! and Ash.

The birth of The Wookiees began Monday 7th September 2009 at Warrington Collegiate college where they were assembled by college tutor Sue Quin.
13th June 2012 the alliance took a break from their reckless route to concentrate on their individual needs, such as alcohol, money and a degree!
..A year later, The Old Town House re-opens and The Wookiees RETURN! elevating straight back to the top of their game.
Expect nothing less than fresh destructive Funk/Soul originals just as you love, combined with inevitable toe-tapping party anthems performed with staggering energy causing chaos throughout any venue!

Happily un-employed cluster of four best friends that spend all their time in the rehearsal shed perfecting the colourful drive and colossal grooving sounds of their fresh view on original Funk.
A band that do it for the love of music and more importantly, their music. Playing every show as its their last, it's sight that everybody needs to witness!
