Fitzroy Anthony Lindsay, better known as Blaqsun was born on 28th of October 1985 in the parish of St Thomas, Jamaica. He is a musician, singer-songwriter, producer and engineer, whose music is influenced by the modern day society and many of his lyrics come from personal experiences.
Growing up in Jamaica has taught him the importance of hard work, positive mentality, determination and love for other living beings. He has inherited his talents from his paternal grandfather, who was also a musician, and developed a passion for music from an early age.
He moved to the UK on July the 15th 1997 at the age of 12 and resides in New Cross, South London. He embarked on a music production course at Positive Mental Attitude Community College in Deptford, London and on completion was offered a job, which he gladly accepted. The following two and a half years he was working as an accredited music and maths teacher. Fitzroy reflects: "I loved working with underprivileged children and teaching them how to make music. It gave them something to focus on and put something positive back into the community."
He has now decided to concentrate fully on his own music. At present Fitzroy spends most of his time in the studio writing new lyrics, recording, performing and promoting. Throughout his time of self promotion, his music has been acknowledged on Twitter by the likes of Styles P, N Dubz, Cheryl Cole, Mobb Deep to name but a few. Early 2010 he signed up to Twitrax, which is the musical arm of Twitter. In less than 6 months he gained over 50,000 combined plays and over 500 downloads. He signed up to Reverbnation a year ago and has totalled 20,000 plays to date as well as reaching top ten in their charts. Fitzroy has performed at a number of events/occasions i.e. The Markethouse Club in Somerset. His performance went down really well and as a result had an article in the local newspaper.
Although he is versatile and does a vast range of genres i.e. hip hop, dancehall, RnB and pop, Fitzroy (GMOAN) has decided to concentrate on his unique style of UK rap/pop fused with dancehall. He is a modest but confident individual who is comfortable working as a solo artist as well as in collaboration with others.
2012 started on a positive note, in January he signed with Xxcel Media, who he is working strategically with to take his career to the next level.
‘My aim in 2012 is to enlighten, share good, positive vibes, build a legacy and help the less fortunate. I just wanna make the world dance to my music….’ G MOAN.
