Larry Haack / Bio

In a time of twelve truck tours, shows with backing tracks, dancers and choirs on stage,Larry Haack is an enigma.Concrete Canvas, his new analog one track-one take CD of ten special songs proves it.
Growing up in the high desert of California east of Bakersfield he emulated the music of his heroes Bob Dylan,Arlo Guthrie,John Hartford, Norman Blake and Clarence White, learning to play their songs on guitar and fiddle. The acoustic style he developed got him noticed and he became one of the most sought after instrumentalists and vocalists by bands playing fairs ,rodeos, clubs and bars all around Kern County.
In 1988 fledgling label Souix Records took him into the studio and recorded two songs released later that year.In 1990 he packed up and moved to the songwriting Mecca of the country...Nashville.
His playing skills earned him immediate jobs backing some of the hottest Grand Old Opry stars but it was the songs he wrote that got him noticed.A publishing deal with API/Songwriters Ink soon followed and he had songs recorded by Joe Diffie,James Prosser, Jill King and Sherry Lynn to name a few.Later he would start Blue Sierra Music.
Recently "The Roadhammers" made a significant impact on radio with two Haack co-penned songs. "I've Got The Scars To Prove It" was the second single off their U.S. project "BLOOD, SWEAT AND STEEL" and later the same year released "Scars" and "Homegrown" on their Canadian record "THE ROADHAMMERS II".Both were top tens with "Scars" topping out as a number one Canadian song.
Earlier this year he sat down in a studio on Music Row with a handfull of some of his favorite tunes he wrote or co-penned with such notable writers as Roger Cook, Andy Spooner, Bobby Taylor and Jason McCoy.Using a technology and recording method that many have long abandoned,"Concrete Canvas" was born. Its stripped down, no nonsense style creates creates an intoxicating blend of singer and song not often heard in music today.
