Keith E. Bates / Bio

Keith E. Bates is an original songwriter/singer/poet as independent as they come. He plays guitar with varied tastes and influences.Ranging from Dylan to Bach,Cash, Hank Sr, CSN & sometimes Y. Sprinkle in Allman Bros with a dash of MTB, Skynyrd to Grand Funk to Chicago and as far back as Elmore James, Buddy Guy, Muddy Waters. Add a little romance, mix with a some southern sensibilities, maybe a little irreverence, a touch experimental, and fun. Discovering Shawn Philips in the 70s was a revelation. That's where you find the music of Keith E. Bates. Southern, true, but experienced and as traveled as the stories he tells. A lot of love & heartbreak along with tales of experiences from his life and heartfelt love of his southern home. Keith E. Bates, also a member of the Musicians & Songwriters Guild of South Carolina, is a native of the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains of South Carolina around Spartanburg(home of The Marshall Tucker Band & other great talents), and has obvious roots tempered by his military service. He has previously appeared at venues ranging from Doc's BBQ, Cafe Strudel, the Handlebar, the Awendaw Green Barn Jam( with former band"REDD WYNE") ,opened for Angela Easterling, Saluda Shoals, Red Door Tavern, Songwriters Circle held in Elgin, SC, and beyond. So, sit back, give a listen, you may want to get up and boogie some. Well, that'll be okay, too. Just give him a try & enjoy. Give him a call, and maybe he will play for you.
