Since the release of their debut album 'Tomorrow Tomorrow Today' at the end of 2013, Ekko Park has had a whirlwind year that includes sold out tours of New Zealand; substantial airplay on local and international TV and radio stations; 4 iTunes Rock Chart topping singles; and in September / October, headline-toured the UK and Ireland. Born in 2010, Ekko Park are best described as “a ship captained by an Irishman and crewed by 3 kiwis” – singer Joe, a born and bred Belfast boy, travelled the globe playing music before settling in NZ, where he teamed up with 3 kiwi fellas. A collaboration of diverse backgrounds forming a unique and explosive offering in the NZ music landscape.
In November 2013 their debut album 'Tomorrow Tomorrow Today' entered the Official NZ Album Chart at #15 and was the #5 NZ Album. Engineered and co-produced by Andrew Buckton (Crowded House, Midnight Youth, The D4, Clap Clap Riot). 'Tomorrow Tomorrow Today' captures Ekko Park in its purity – melodic and sonic, thrown together with powered energy. The album features 4 iTunes Rock Chart topping singles.
‘My Crime’ came in the Top 70 Rock FM Songs of the Year for both 2013 and 2014, along with Top 10 spots in The Rock Chart (The Rock FM’s listener voted weekly countdown) and the Radioscope New Zealand Rock Chart.
June 2014 saw the release of ‘Always A Fire’ – the final single from the album. In July / August 2014, the band completed a hugely successful nationwide New Zealand Winter Tour with London based band I AM GIANT, which also saw ‘Tomorrow Tomorrow Today’ re-enter the Official NZ Album Chart at #27 and was the #7 NZ Album.
September / October 2014, the band toured Ireland and the UK for the first time, playing to full houses in Dublin, Belfast and the Camden Barfly in London, a show presented by SJM Concerts.
On arrival back in New Zealand, the band were announced as a finalist for the 2014 Vodafone New Zealand Music Awards, with ‘Tomorrow Tomorrow Today’ nominated for Best Rock Album 2014.
Ekko Park are currently writing and recording new material, and have a mix of club and festival shows confirmed for the New Zealand summer.
