Alejandro / Bio

Alejandro is a midwestern native from Iowa of south american descent. His interest for music was sparked by the radio and popular music at an early age. He studied at Northern Illinois University and Roosevelt University. He continued private studies with Bobby Broom and Dennis Carroll.

Alejandro released "Urban Intervals," in January 2012 at the Jazz Showcase with Ron Perrillo accompanying on piano. The concert was dedicated to Jodie Christian who is featured on the recording along with Dennis Carroll and George Fludas

It was on one of Mr. Christian's concerts were Jodie instantly struck a chord with the youngster. The two played periodically, forming a quartet which also was featured on vocalist Marc Pompe's album "Hi-Fly."

Alejandro moved to Chicago in 2000 after being on the Minneapolis music scene. Pursuing Jazz led him to the New Apartment lounge and Von Freeman where Alejandro sat in the guitar chair frequently for Mr. Freeman's group.

Alejandro continued to play with many local stars at premier venues including the Green Mill, Jazz Showcase and the Chicago Jazz Festival. His music took shape when he assembled a group featuring the rhythm section of Dennis Carroll and George Fludas led by Jodie Christian in 2008 to record "Urban Intervals."
