(aka Vintage Gold Muse & Rahel)
"Rahel's beautiful music is a breath of fresh air. Makes my heart feel good..."
Rahel is making waves with a wide reaching repertoire that is intelligent, musically sophisticated and ethnically diverse. With sometimes driving rhythms and sometimes gentle sounds, Rahel brilliantly fuses jazz, Middle East rhythms, Far east mantras, and appropriate contemporary stylings to produce a sound that is fascinating for music lovers of all ages, cultures and faiths.
The 1960's proved to be an exciting era. I was fourteen when I took up the guitar. I spent hours with my vinyl LP's learning the beautiful finger styles of James Taylor and Paul Simon. I was in awe of the perfect synchronicity of Peter, Paul & Mary and enchanted by the open chord progressions of Joni Mitchell and Mary McCaslin. I watched Bob Dylan inspire the masses with his complex yet simplistic musical social commentary. Then came the exquisite vocal harmonies and creative acoustic meanderings of Crosby, Stills & Nash that held me spellbound and the psychedelic sounds of the 1970's; Jimi Hendrix, Led Zeppelin, Janis Joplin, Santana and Earth, Wind & Fire that energized me. The feminist movement brought amazing women songwriters to the forefront. Cris Williamson, Meg Christian, Wendy Waldman, Bonnie Raitt, Suzanne Vega, Nanci Griffith, Hazel and Alice, and more recently the Indigo Girls proved to be important role models for my budding young artist! In the mid 1970’s I took to the road and traveled through Canada and Europe and in 1976 I resided in Israel for the next 22 years! It was in Israel that my musical ears became attuned to a diverse repertoire of traditional, world and roots music, as well as a myriad of Middle Eastern and contemporary sounds, rhythms and genres. By the 1980’s I had mastered it all and began to write and compose my own original songs, tunes and compositions.
