There are only a handful of singer-songwriters who are actually from Nashville. And go figure, I'm one of them. I grew up in a log cabin about an hour out of the city, playing sports with the neighborhood boys, reading piles and piles of books from our town's outdated library, and belting it out to my hairbrush to Celine Dion's 90's albums.
As a teenager, I started singing in church and playing country music with a local band every Friday night at a local dive. It was a sweet, hometown kind of place where old folks and teenagers alike came to listen to music, dance, and just have a good time. I learned the music of Patsy Cline, Johnny Cash, Don Williams, and other greats. Somewhat from that experience, I was introduced to Surefire Music, a country publisher in Nashville. Writing under their wing for about two years, I started to get a real taste for Nashville writing. I realized to a small degree what it's about, how it can be both difficult and rewarding, and what wonderful people one meets along the way... Since my time with them, I have recorded with award-winning producer Kyle Lehning and have continued to write independently.
My heart is truly for the craft and to become the best writer I can be. I'm passionate about the journey and authenticity, and I hope that translates through my music.
