Chiney was born on March 28 in Memphis, TN. Her father was serving in the army at the time and relocated to Pittsburgh when Chiney was 5 years old.
Camille's stage name "Chiney" is a term used specifically in the Caribbean and it used to describe a girl who is black mixed with Asian or Chinese.
With her mother being mixed with black and native American, and her father being mixed with black and Asian. Chiney is a very well cultured, extremely talented, and driven individual
She attended George Westinghouse H.s. and graduated with honors in 2003. Chiney has been an advance student since she was placed in the Pittsburgh public schools at the age of 5. Camille showed a special interest in poetry, fashion, media, and creative arts. After graduating high school Chiney furthered her education with first attending Lincoln University and then moving on to study media communication at Penn State Univ. At this time in her life she was traveling from Lincoln, to Atlantic city, to Lancaster, and Harrisburg region. With her success in promoting parties and djing she decided to drop out and continue to further her career in entertainment.
In 2008 Chiney started her own company G-Swagg Ent. with Tom Jefferson (a longtime close friend of the family) which started off as party promotions ,since that was what they already had established in college, they just figured to make it a brand name under G-Swagg. Then After they did a few parties they wanted to expand into videography, photography, and fashion. With in a couple months of starting this new business venture they already picked up work with Cardell Collins, CEO OF RAW ENTERTAINMENT, a record label based in Pittsburgh. They started covering footage of all RAW Ent events, capturing live footage of their artist performing live amongst national acts like Yung LA, Shawty Lo, B.G., and reality star Risky. At that time they also got the G-Swagg clothing line in place and really focused on building the G-Swagg Brand.
Finally in 2011 Camille decided it's finally time to start pushing her music. With everyone anxious and patiently waiting for Chiney to make the commitment of being an artist along with being a CEO for G-Swagg she had to start really focusing on the music.
As a new lesbian music artist, Chiney's style is purely about swagg and creative diverse sounds. Her style of music is based around Hip Hop, which extends to other genres such as Techno, House, and Rnb. She was featured on a song by Souldivide Emcee, called "All in her brain", produced and mixed by DJ Thermos. Even with her pop hip hop techno sound, she proves she still can deliver hard hip hop lyrics when necessary. She is not one to doubt with word play, which she is best known for her poetry growing up.
"I try to write every day about the things i see, experience, and blend different sounds together to make each song a memorable experience" Chiney explains. " I don't want to be labeled just as a hip hop artist but just as a diverse music artist, that can create different types of songs that different people in the world can vibe too".
The summer of 2011 is when the road of being an music artist started for Chiney. She received beats from a well known producer from Brooklyn named "Known" which he laced Chiney with the hottest tracks. The first banger that Chiney produced was "We Stuntin" which is produced by known and features Emprez, another well known artist from Pittsburgh. She also released Roll With Me" a rnb hip hop song that is her biggest hit yet, the track features Jade, a rnb singer under G-Swagg Ent, and Emprez. Chiney quickly and surprisingly starting performing immediately after coming out as an artist which is a hard task in itself when it comes to getting shows as a new lesbian artist. Chiney has rocked the stage at the legendary Shadow lounge, Rex Theater, Pittsburgh Black Gay Pride picnic, and has been invited to rock in other cities including Atlanta's black gay pride celebrity block party!
As Chiney continues to do shows in the Pittsburgh area she is also in the studio working on her mixtape set to drop in Early 2012.
