Will Gaby Ramirez be defined by her age? Being that she's only 17 years old, that would seem understandable. How about her ethnicity? It seems like it would've be easier for her to embrace her Mexican-American roots and continue to create and perform music in Spanish (which happens to be how she broke into the Industry at age seven). Well, what about her image and branding? She's got plenty of that… It just won't make your heart flutter and toes twinkle quite the same way Katy Perry does, or Britney did. It all feels a bit darker and a tad sinister. Imagine if Ozzy and Janis had a love child…If you can fathom that, you'd be lightly scratching the surface. Weird, right? No, just different.

So, who is this Classically Gothic, yet Betty Boop-esque (in the iconic pin-up model sort of way) teenage girl? And, what in the world is Gaby Ramirez all about? Simply put: it's all about the music. Creating a new lane, developing a sound and image that will impact people today, and that will continue to impact people as time progresses. Easier said then done, kid! That's why the sound is so important; walking in her own tracks, rather than following in other's footprints. You know, so it won't be discarded when the next seventeen year old walks through that revolving industry door.

Explain the sound? The feel? The music? It's everything. It encompasses all that we are as humans and all that we strive to be. All emotions, every memory, and, of course, our history and future. It's reflective of our society and culture, where we've been and where we're heading. It's a reflection of herself and her energy.

At age eleven, Gaby released her first album, "Mi Sueno". The music at that point was a mesh of traditional Mariachi music and Latin Pop. Gaby toured with legendary Mariachi band, Los Camperos, who had an overwhelming influence (primarily, because of her age and who her audience was on most evenings) on her sound. Touring through-out Mexico gave her the opportunity to cut her teeth and showcase her talent. Gaby relished those moments and continued to perform music in the Spanish language until…well, she just didn't.

Why change after having success at such a young age? She began to grow as a person and started formulating opinions based on her experiences and perceptions of the world. And, while many people forget how to execute the options they have, Gaby just decided to make a change, and that was it. The same way she finished high-school early, co-starred in a Spanish music-television special, toured Mexico, and penned her own series of Spanglish children books ("Tilo")…She made a conscious choice. Still, what's it all about? Are we missing something? Yes, you're missing the music… but you won't be, not for long.
