“Some songs are conceived and born quickly. And some of those songs, like ‘Yesterday,’ are game changers. But other times, you’ve just got to work and work and work. You’ve got to sculpt the songs into the little pieces of perfection that you are absolutely positive they are meant to be. That’s exactly what it would seem Kevin Heider has done with his ambitious double-album, 'The Spark'….It’s an album that really couldn’t be born outside of the American experience.” (TheEqualGround.com, 8/28/13)
As a songwriter, it has been said that Kevin Heider’s form follows his substance. Born and raised in Dayton, Ohio, Kevin’s unique and malleable indie-folk/rock sound is coupled with a lyrical form that explores, from the heights to the depths, what it means to be human. He has spent the last three years on the road [full-time], sharing his original songs and stories with audiences off all kinds. And he is self-taught on every instrument he plays – primarily guitar, piano, and harmonica.
In July of 2008, Kevin was personally selected by Ingrid Michaelson as the winner of Gibson’s “The Way I Am Contest” on MusicNation.com. His original compositions have since appeared in radio jingles, film documentaries, theatrical productions, television shows, and commercials, and his music has taken him as far as Europe and New Zealand.
All of his music is available on iTunes, Amazon MP3, Bandcamp.com, and more. Hard copies (CDs) can be purchased in the Store here on KevinHeider.com, as well as on Bandcamp.com and LoveGoodMusic.com. His discography includes:
"The Spark" (2-discs, released 3/26/13)
"Ready, Set, Become..." (EP, released 5/1/11)
"The Salzburg Revolution" (released 5/1/10)
"To Whom It May Concern" (released 5/1/09)
While his home base is now [once again] in Dayton, Ohio, Kevin travels all over the world with his music, performing in a variety of indie music venues, churches, bars, coffee shops, living rooms, street corners, and anywhere else that’ll have him.
