The Shelf Life String Band is an untraditional bluegrass five-piece with a solid repertoire of musical delight. These boys and gal keep the energy high with their full bodied, feel good sound, captivating crowds old and young alike.
The ensemble hosts a Wednesday bluegrass jam in Pittsburgh’s Deutschtown neighborhood that attracts capacity crowds on a weekly basis. The five-piece was invited to perform for Bill Peduto’s Mayoral Inauguration Celebration and has been featured at the Whiskey Rebellion Festival (Washington, PA), Bluegrass on the Bricks (Cumberland, MD), Ohiolina Music Festival (Mt. Vernon, OH), and the Laurel Hill Bluegrass Festival (Somerset, PA).
The Shelf Life String Band has also performed on the main stages of the Butler Ice Jam and the Clarion Bluegrass Festival and has shared the stage with Greensky Bluegrass, Cornmeal, Pokey LaFarge, Mac Martin, Gangstagrass, Cabinet, The Felice Brothers, and more. In August of 2014, the band was invited to perform on top of Ken Kesey’s historic Furthur Bus when it stopped in Pittsburgh on the 50th Anniversary Tour.
The Shelf Life String Band recently recorded and released their long-awaited debut LP, “Another Evening and Other Tales.” Released in tandem with the album was a new beer brewed by Rock Bottom Brewery and head brewer Brandon McCarthy called “Shelf Life India Pale Lager.”
