Rejectionist Front / Bio

Rejectionist Front

“Rejectionist Front is more than a happening band with a cookin sound, they are that rare band making important music” say Grammy Award Winner Andy Wallace (Nirvana, Rage Against The Machine, A Perfect Circle, Linkin Park). The band was honored when Wallace mixed the single “Fifty Dollars” from their debut CD, “Shock The Conscious Mass.” The track has played on radio throughout the US.

A dynamic sound and unique vocal merge with Rejectionist Front’s follow-up CD, “Evolve” that will be released later this year. The CD, produced by Brett Hestla from Dark New Day and formerly of Creed, focuses on conflict both within ourselves and throughout society as we struggle for positive change. The single "Reclaim" is part of the Music For Occupy CD that includes many inspiring artists including Crosby and Nash, Jackson Browne, Patti Smith, Third Eye Blind and Tom Morello. The music video "Flush", from the new CD was selected by MTV Iggy as one of the Sounds of the Revolution. RF has been grateful to share the stage with many inspiring artists including Talib Kweli, George Clinton & P-Funk, Immortal Technique and Joan Baez.

In the best spirit of socially conscious music, the band rejects the status quo and seeks constructive change as they combine music with activism. This New York based group consists of founder Michael Perlman, Lincoln Prout, David Dawson and Tony Tino. RF began at CBGBs and performs at venues throughout the US including BB King, Webster Hall, The Concert Hall, and The Highline Ballroom.

Rejectionist Front has been proud to play in support of vital causes including Rock The Vote, Save Darfur, The USO, Wounded Warriors, Rock Against Dystrophy and most recently, Occupy Wall Street. Perlman’s long time activism includes being founder and executive director of Rock To Save Darfur, dedicated to ending the mass killings and slavery in the Sudan. Monies raised at the concert benefits have helped save thousands of lives and free hundreds of slaves in conjunction with partners including Save The Children and Jewish World Watch.

In addition to music, Perlman channels his activism into film and is an award winning director/writer/producer as well as an official Artist For Amnesty. His films have been broadcast around the world and focus on the struggle for justice through emotional stories of courage and resiliency.
The soundtrack that he produced from his film Free China: The Courage To Believe has been nominated as best soundtrack of the year by the Hollywood Music in Media Awards.
