The idea for Mad Shadows was born in the dark corner of a local drinking establishment in the summer of 2009. Paul Tompkins, longing for the stage again after retiring from HB7, presented the idea of a band performing mostly 80s music to David Tarbert. David loved the idea and said "If you build it, PA will come". The duo recruited Brian Keys to be the front-man and Mad Shadows was born. Late in the fall of 2009, the band added Jodi Wolfe to the mix to cover female vocal and percussion duties. After some deliberation (they couldn't decide on adding a keyboard player or bass player), the band decided on the best of both worlds and invited Matt Frampton to join in the adventure. Matt happily joined the band in December of 2009.
The band went on a short hiatus shortly after Matt had a stroke. After his amazing recovery, the band began putting together its song list of the most entertaining songs of the 80s and more. With Matt and Paul switching back and forth on bass and keys, Brian's versatile vocal style and guitar playing, Jodi's vocal talents, and the steady backbone of David on the drums, the band has taken on a uniqueness few groups can match.
