Driving Wheel has played many shows since 2007, sharing stages at venues and festivals across the Midwest with such diverse artists as : Blackberry Smoke, Florida/Georgia Line, Ana Popovic, Tedeschi/Trucks Band, North Mississippi All-Stars, Tab Benoit, Shinedown, the Chris Robinson Brotherhood, Del McCoury Band, The Steepwater Band, Joanne Shaw Taylor, Rival Sons, The Schwag, Andy Frasco & the UN, as well as Anders Osborne and the Nigel Dupree Band among many others.
Featuring Ryan Tomlinson on lead guitar, Jeremy Hunsaker on bass guitar and Craig Wingate on drums and percussion, they are the perfect blend of experience and youth. A power-trio in the classic mold of Cream, Band of Gypsys, the original Gov't Mule and ZZ Top, in the words of Aarik Danielson (Columbia Tribune), "Driving Wheel has achieved a blistering sound built around tough, melodic guitar licks, grinding grooves and vocals that come from somewhere deep in the gut. Its music contains echoes of long-gone blues masters while finding room for a more modern musical language. Songs can go from a whimper to a roar in a heartbeat..."
With an EP forthcoming and a new LP in the finishing stages, and being mixed and co-produced by the band with Stephen Shirk (Alabama Shakes, Patterson Hood, etc.), Driving Wheel appears to be poised for a breakthrough 2015.
