Abnormal Cattle was formed in April of 2010 by
Rick Wood (Guitar, Voclas), Dan Smrz (Drums) and,
Nate Lang (Bass). The band started with Dan and Rick informally jamming in Dan's garage before adding Nate on the bass.
"We just wanted to play the kind of music we started out on; basically loud garage rock." -Rick Wood-
After a couple of weeks together they had written several songs and began playin shows at the local bars. Over the course of the Summer the band continued playing gigs around Sturgeon Bay, including a slot on the main stage at Steel Bridge Songfest and finished writting material that would constitute their debut album, "Figure 1" (Rabbit Fire Records).
On October 1st Abnormal Cattle began recording at Strobe Recording Studio, in Chicago, IL. The album was recorded and mixed to analog tape over the course of three days, without the use of any computers or digital editing. The result is a raw and powerful rock record that maintains the integrity of their sound while engaging the listener without having to resort to over-production.
Figure 1 will be availible in December on 12" 150-Gram Vinyl.
