Acarya / Bio

Acarya is an original Rock project combining earthy, driving rhythms, thick harmonic textures and powerful vocals for a high-energy performance. Coining the term "Tribal Rock," this ensemble fuses World percussion and thick layers of guitar into an organic wall of sound.

Described by one listener as a "drum rhapsody," Acarya has been compared to a cross between the Civil Wars and Led Zeppelin, or a mix of Rusted Root with early Pearl Jam.

This powerhouse duo kicks out an enormous sound, layering earthy acoustic guitar with a wall of primal drums. The result: a raw, organic, yet intimate wave of rolling rhythm and soaring vocals. This band is able to melt hearts as well as faces; in addition to their thunderous percussion-heavy tunes, they are also capable of distilling pure emotion into gorgeous harmonies in gentle ballads such as "Accidentally Beautiful".

They have performed at many large and mid-sized venues in Cincinnati and are expanding quickly throughout the region. They received an honorable mention in the M.E.A.N.Y. Festival in New York City in October, 2011 and were also chosen to showcase at the Millennium Music Fest in Feb. 2012 and 2013.

They have toured through PA, NJ, NY on the East Coast, throughout the Midwest and are currently traveling the West Coast.

Venues where they have performed include:Chicago's Elbo Room, Louisville's Hard Rock Cafe, Madison Theater, The Southgate House, The Thompson House, Northside Tavern, Fountain Square, Mainstay Rock Bar, Rohs Street Cafe, Woodlands Tavern, The Drinkery, Monkey's Tale, Animal House, Taza, Baba Budan's, G. Worthy’s, Leapin Lizard, Suba, Luxe, Midtown Tavern, Monkey's Tale, 247 Bar, Serendipity Martini Bar, O' Shecky's, Byrne's Pub, Animal House, World Music Fest, Cincy Rock Fest, Jubilo Music Fest, Paw Paw Fest, Chubbstock, Humanity Outpost Festival, Price Hill Cultural Festival, Turfway Commons, World Peace Jubilee and the Clifton Heights Music Festival III, IV and V.
