There’s one in every family…the one with gonna-get-in-trouble grin who can never seem to follow the rules. When it comes to the worlds of Country & Southern Rock, singer/songwriter Michelle Leigh is THAT one.
Her songs amplify real-life situations, real-life problems and real-life solutions. Michelle’s music says out loud what everyone else is already thinking. With a voice all her own, she will break your heart with a ballad, and then heal it with a hard shot of whiskey.
Michelle grew up in Bakersville, North Carolina; a small Appalachian town steeped in the tradition of mountain music, folk songs, and gospel hymns. Michelle has never stopped furthering her musical development. She has crafted a sound and style that mixes Rock (a traditionally male dominated genre) with Alternative Country. The result: a unique blend of smoky vocals and driving rhythms that keeps her fans coming back for more.
In 2012, Michelle was listed in the Top 25 out of over 2,200 entries in GAC/ Music City Songwriter's Competition for her ballad Babydoll, and Honorable Mention in the Smoky Mountain Songwriter's Competition for the rock-infused number Black Ink. Michelle's latest CD "The Truth…" was completed mid-January, 2013, and it promises more of the same fire and brimstone, tell-it-like-it-is writing. Her latest tunes take on love-the unrequited kind, Sex & money-the “pleasure doing business with you” kind, and societal plagues like domestic and sexual abuse. Her song Blood Water states, “Good book says do unto others…”, & Michelle is not afraid to tackle the tough issues.
She is currently working with noted producer/writer/performer & Grammy nominee Charlie Kelley, and is backed in studio by some of Nashville’s finest.
"Playdates with Michelle Leigh" are listed on her website www.Michelleleigh.com, Facebook Fan Page, and Myspace.
