It all started in Amarillo, Texas in 1955. Where I was born. My Mom and Dad were local musicians. My dad played rhythm guitar and my Mom sang like an Angel. At two years old, we, Mom, Dad and my six brothers and sisters and I moved to San Antonio, Texas where I grew up on a farm out side town.
I began playing guitar at about age 11. I cut my teeth on the classic styles of music of the time. Listening to the likes of Ernest Tubb, Bob Wills, Hank Thompson, Merle Travis, Chet Atkins, Buck Owens, Merle Haggard, George Jones. Listening to Classic Rock like ZZ Top and Santana, southern rock too.. I started playing in bands at about 15 years old all around the San Antonio area. I played with Bobby Flores and lots of others. I bet by the time I reached 20 years old, I had played just about ever Honky Tonk in the south central Texas area. Then I moved to Austin.
In the early 70s Austin was going through a huge change. The progressive country thing was happenin'. I was diggin' Asleep at the Wheel, Commander Codie and his Lost Plannet Airmen amoung many, many others. I found my slot, I jumped right in there and played with the former Steel Guitar Player for Hank Thompson and the Brazos Valley Boys, Bert Rivera. The band at the time was Bert Rivera and the Night Riders. Over the years, I've played with lots of different bands in and around Austin and the local central Texas area.
Now, as a local Austin professional guitarist, I enjoy playing a verity of styles. Such as Classic Country, Classic Rock, Alt. Country, Jazz, Blues, Bluegrass etc. I own a small resturant called The Motley Menagerie in Kyle, Texas where I play Guitar often. I also play solo guitar shows around town I hope you enjoy listening to a small example of my music.
