Hailing from upstate South Carolina, SIXandTWENTY are poised to be the next big sound metal has to offer. Just listen to Mic of greenmusicscene.com’s praise: "Hard rock has been waiting for another great band to arise and South Carolina has provided it with SIXandTWENTY. Listening to SIXandTWENTY wells you up with the angst of youth and speaks loudly to the rocker in all of us. SIXandTWENTY music locks you in an MMA cage, hits with a hard left hook of tight vocals, a straight thrust kick of drums, bass to your gut and then wrestles you down with gripping guitar riffs for the three count. This is not a band to be taken lightly."
The band is gearing up to hit the studio in late 2013 to begin initial tracking of their new album, “Numbers,” their 1st effort to be entirely DIY – produced, tracked, mixed and mastered by the band. Early demos of the material are promising, mixing SIXandTWENTY’s trademark groove-laden sound with a slightly more progressive feel, with nods to TOOL, Mastodon & Gojira in the mix.
SIXandTWENTY formed in upstate SC in early 2009, with Tyler Winstead (vox), Dean Rose (bass/vox) and Scott Wilson (guitar/backing vox) recruiting local drumming/percussion virtuoso Harold Smith to fill out their need for something new in the local hard rock/metal scene. After a few songs were written, the guys realized they were on to something, and the band SIXandTWENTY was born. After two self-produced, self-financed albums of original material, and opening for NonPoint, The Gracious Few (featuring members of LIVE and Candlebox) and New Wave of American Heavy Metal superstars Trivium, the band embarked on a two week tour of the Midwest, hitting Chicago, IL, Kansas City, MS and Battle Creek MI (opening for Icon For Hire on the way). After the tour, SIXandTWENTY gained a new family member, Brad Parris (guitar/Theremin), to help bring voice to their musical vision. SIXandTWENTY has since opened for Straight Line Stitch and “horror ska” legends The Independents. With over 200+ shows under their belts both supporting and headlining, the guys are ready for the next level!
