Lisa Ridgely & The Fainting Room / Bio

Lisa is a singer-songwriter who taught herself how to play guitar during her college years at UWM. She continued to experiment with songwriting for a decade until an ovary-related health scare inspired her to face her fear of public performance.

After performing her songs as a solo artist, Lisa decided to expand her sound with a backing band, The Fainting Room. The Fainting Room features Level 5 Guitar Jedi (2012 WAMI Award-winning Guitarist of the Year) Ryan Elliott, who also plays with local stalwarts the Form and rockers The Great Lakes Drifters, 2012 WAMI Best New Artist winners. Northwoods siren Sara Moilanen, 2011 WAMI Female Vocalist of the Year, plays bass and harmonizes with Lisa. She also lends her vocal abilities and bass playing to vintage country trio The WhiskeyBelles, and performs with her husband, Tim Suchocki, in Milwaukee-based Americana duo West of East (WAMI 2011 Americana Artist of the Year). Craig Mertes lends some rock ‘n roll perspective from behind the drum kit in between attempts to attach his drums to his bicycle.

"Wine In Bed," recorded in December 2011 at Howl Street Recordings by Shane Hochstetler, is Lisa Ridgely & The Fainting Room's first studio EP. It was released in late April, 2012.

Influences: Sharon Van Etten, Mason Jennings, Kristin Hersh, David Grey, Elliott Smith, Glen Hansard, Amos Lee and Jewel.
