Midwest State Of Mind, is a four piece Rock Band that formed in 2009 In Indianapolis, IN. The group's musical style primarily consists of rock with an emphasis on bluesy funk, as well as elements from other genres such as Alternative and Grunge.
When played live, their music incorporates elements of jam band due to the improvised nature of much of their performances.
Currently, the band consists of Andrew Thompson(vocals) , Jay Patton(Bass), Wade Boyer(Lead Guitar) & John Smith(Drums).

During their time in Indianapolis, MWSM spent their time heavily gigging around the Indianapolis area and the Midwest region. Playing in clubs and on college campuses, MWSM quickly gained an underground following. Being known for the high energy shows, improvisational skills and on stage Antics of Frontman Andrew Thompson.
After the release of their debut album, and the success of the single "One Day" a feel good rock pop tune that pays damage to the men and women of the Armed Forces . They gained a more mainstream fan base and made a few opening act appearances with National acts like The Dirty Heads, Fuel and Filter.
In 2014, The Band decided to relocate to Austin Texas, and reassemble the line up, to pursue broader horizons.

After spending some time back in Nashville Boyer decided to join MWSM in Austin in Jan 2015. The band later met Austin native John Smith, who joined the band in March 2015 after departing with his current project that was performing around The Austin area.
