Even from Washington state manolito daniel could feel the funk from Detroit, from Chicago, New York and Philly. Donna Summer, Michael Jackson and The Ohio Players were making thier mark on him long before he was aware of the influence. After moving from Spokane to his new home of Seattle, manolito daniel co-founded the (now dissolved) group Delicious People in 2008. Immediately they produced a small if not shockingly accomplished body of work. Right out of the gate "Salty Goodness" was storming dancefloors. The "Erotic City" of it's day with grinding funk, a walking beat, and daniel's appetizingly libidinous lyrics, a follow up was soon in demand. Now with a broken disco-esque beat and daniel's trademark beatbox, daniel's words were never more romantic nor more haunting; once "This Love" was released, it went as high as 46 on Amazon's digital dance downloads, proving there was a place for manolito daniel in today's global music scene.
At the age of 5 manolito daniel was busy spinning the records of Summer and Jackson (Bad Girls, Thriller). His place in music born, he fervently pursued anything with a dance beat, anything with funk, anything with a diva, anything with soul. Like many he began forming his voice by the mimicking of other powerful voices he heard. Unlike many, he evolved and found his own. Finding the strength in his lyricism, and natural music craft, he is now creating a mix of R&B and sould inspired "make your body move" tracks, manolito daniel is poised to make the leap into today's popular music.
Mining his rich cache of work he is bringing an even more cultivated and adept sound to the forefront. Now, with the release of his 1st EP, "mashunkskit," manolito daniel will show just what he is made of, and only hint at what we can expect in the future. -Oakland Jenkins, Funk Forum
