Earliest Musical Accomplishments: Matthew performed on the Louisiana Hayride at age five (the youngest person to ever perform there). Matthew became an "Ambassador of the State of Oklahoma" that same year, and was the youngest person to sing for the Oklahoma State Senate, by the invitation of Senator Gene Stipe.
First Recordings: At age five, Matthew recorded "Your Cheatin' Heart" and "Hey Good Lookin," for Sun Dial Records, in Nashville, at the urging of a talent scout.
Musical Instruments: He plays guitar, trombone, piano, bass, drums, steel guitar.
Musical Influences: There are many... but the main ones are: Merle Haggard, Hank Williams, Ronnie Milsap, John Mayer, Alan Jackson and James Taylor.
Performing History: Matthew began singing in public when he was two years old, and was fortunate to perform with some notable talents, including shows with Jim Ed Brown and Jimmie C. Newman in Nashville. He followed that with Opry shows across the Midwest and southern U.S., and performed engagements for many beauty pageants, including the Miss Oklahoma Pageant. Matthew has opened shows for Kathy Mattea, Randy Travis, Jack Green, and Bobby Bare and has performed on telethons with Becky Hobbs, Red Stegall and other entertainers.
Current: Matthew currently resides in Nashville Matthew is busy performing at writer's nights, writing songs, and co-writing with several successful writers, including Hank Cochran, Dennis Morgan and many other established Nashville writers.
Personal Goal Statement: If I am able to sing one song, that touches one person, that in turn causes one positive thing to occur in this world, I feel confident that I will be doing what I was put on this earth to do.
