Twelve years ago, Real ‘Radic’ Name began his musical journey.
The name Radic came about due to a spiritual transformation. He moved from being shy to having a more radical approach to things. In addition, another artiste used the name Radical, so to remain unique it was changed from Radical to Radic, an acronym meaning Righteousness and Divinity in Christ. (R.A.D.I.C)
Growing up with a passion for music, Radic started playing the guitar in church and this further inspired his passion for music.
After his introduction to producer Paul Barclay by his former manager Cheryl Crooks, it was then that he decided to go pro.
He recorded two unreleased tracks before recording with Katsjam Productions but his first released recording was a track called “A Who” on the same rhythm as Bob Marley’s famed” Rat Race”. That song was an honor to the king of reggae.
Radic’s career has been influenced heavily by several top entertainers.
Bob Marley, Dennis Brown, Buju Banton, Sanchez, Josey Whales, Morgan Heritage, Alton Ellis, Toots Hibbert, Papa San, Lt. Stitchie, Fred Hammond, Tye Tribbet, John Legend and Donnie McClurkin round of his list of musical influences.
He has been signed to TRYGOD Records, LLC for a 1 year. As a true musician, RADIC pens his own lyrics.
Whether from everyday experience, life inspirations or based on a concept Radic enjoys putting pen to paper to create his music. He also co-writes for other artistes such as Richie Stevens, George Nooks, Luciano and Mikey General.
Inspirational, culture, and social commentaries are his main musical topics. However, versatility allows him to maneuver skillfully through each.
Radic identifies his mission as an artiste as to spread a positive undiluted message of hope and inspiration to both young and old in a creative manner, using the unique language of reggae music.
Performance wise, Radic has quite a bit of experience. In 2002 he performed with top international gospel artistes such as Kirk Franklin, Donnie McClurkin and Yolanda Adams.
He has also shared stage with entertainers such as Damian ‘Jr Gong’ Marley, Doug E. Fresh, Mutabaruka, Tarrus Riley, Sean Paul, Machel Mantano and Marcia Griffiths among others.
The famous Apollo Theater in Manhattan has also been one of his performance venues.
He has done recordings with Dj Nicholas, St Mathew, and Sherwin Gardener out of Trinidad, Veteran Singer Claudelle Clarke, Luciano, Mikey General, Clifford Henry, Christopher Martin and others. He is also the composer of the rhythm of the song Serious Times by Gyptian.
RADIC is currently working on his debut album titled ‘Roots Rock Radic’ while releasing some singles. Also he has released his first video with TRYGOD Records titled Awesome.
