The Rusty Haywhackers are a good time, rockin americana, jam band from Washington, PA. The Rusty Haywhackers do not disappoint with high energy shows that get everyone up and dancing. As life-long jam band fans themselves, The Haywhackers know what their fans want and give it to them with a blend of tasty originals and uniquely arranged and diverse selection of covers from bands like The Grateful Dead, Janis Joplin, The Recipe, Bob Dylan, Merle Haggard, The String Cheese Incident, The Who, Doobie Brothers and John Prine...just to name a few.
In the beginning The Rusty Haywhackers spent their nights honing their craft as house bands at local bars and hosting a regular open mic night. The word of their eclectic and addictive sound spread and so did their fan base. As the success of the band continued The Haywhackers shared the stage with some of their favorite bands,such as Larry Keel and The Davisson Brothers. As part of Washington, PA's bicentennial celebration concert series, The Rusty Haywhackers played for one of their biggest audiences opening for Ricky Skaggs in 2010. In 2011 The Rusty Haywhackers took on their biggest project and took over Viola's Memorial Day Weekend, a 3 day music festival thrown at Tradewinds Campground in Viola, WV. They renamed it The Viola Backwoods Bash and made the event bigger and better in every way with performances from a number of well-known artist such as Larry Keel and Natural Bridge, The Jim Miller Band, The Recipe, The Rumpke Mountain Boys, Broccoli Samurai, KR-3 and many more!
