Daniel Reyes Llinas musical career began at the age of 10, teaching himself guitar. Later he formalized his training with guitarist Carlos Castilla and received his B.A in Classical Guitar Performance at Andes University in Bogotá, Colombia. In 2001 he was selected among the ‘Youngest Performer Series’ at Luis Angel Arango Music Hall in Bogotá and broadcast by the HJCK radio station.
During the last 11 years Daniel has been a resident performing artist with renown British Guitarist and composer Robert Fripp’s Guitar Craft. He has performed with Leo Brouwer, Eduardo Fernandez, Ricardo Cobo, Jorge Caballero, Manuel Barrueco, Ahmet Kannecci and Ricardo Iznaola among many others. In 2010 he was a Bang on a Can fellow at Mass MoCa.
‘Molino’, his first digital album release is available on iTunes and was selected in the top 10 indie / new jazz / world music category by the National Radio in Colombia. His composition for solo guitar ‘Energeia’ is featured on the the CD compilation of contemporary music, ‘Ecua’ and his scores are also featured in the films, La Cascara de la Nuez (2003), Mosaic (2007) and Carmen G (2012).
Mr Llinas currently lives in Brooklyn, NY and is the lead composer of Parias Ensemble, an instrumental group dedicated to blurring the lines of improvisation and written music. ‘En Remolinos’ his second digital album releases in June 2015
