Revolution Garden Party / Bio

As Revolution Garden Party exited the stage after a blistering set at a hometown show in Dallas, opening up for the 80's pop rock sensation Gene Loves Jezebel, Gene's lead vocalist Michael Aston took the stage with a puzzled look as he pondered the question "How are we going to follow that?" He then proclaimed "They are tough to follow!"
Encompassing a vast source of classic influences that include Steely Dan, the Beatles, the Police, Prince, and Tears For Fears, Revolution Garden Party has cultivated it's own strain of pop inspired, progressive funk rock with infectious melodies and undeniable rhythms. RGP splices together genres seamlessly by combining bits of rock, funk, pop, jazz, reggae, Latin, and progressive rock into a plethora of variety and style. When it comes to modern artists that compare with Revolution Garden Party on a per song basis, some fans have suggested bands such as My Morning Jacket, the Raconteurs, Band of Horses, Gotye, the Shins, as well as more classic, funkier bands ranging from Steely Dan to Earth Wind and Fire.
RGP was founded by and is comprised of long time songwriting collaborators guitarist Greg May and Multi- instrumentalist/ vocalist Jimmie Blanton. After forming the group as a four piece in 2008 and later recording their debut album"Appetite of the Soul", the band's founders decided that they would be much happier as a duo, and have embarked on a musical adventure in multiple styles that has been building a fresh buzz and loyal, enthusiastic fan base.
There are many exciting and promising achievements through live performances and future studio releases awaiting RGP in the coming months and years. With the founding of their own label Wonderloud Records, they plan to expand and promote their own unique brand of modern music while navigating an ever changing musical landscape. RGP have built a musical garden that started a party and will hopefully inspire a musical revolution.Viva la revolucion'!
