Spawned from the depths of Astoria in 2009, JUMP FOR THE SAILS would play over a hundred shows in the years to come. From the famous New Years Show at Gussy's Bar in 2010, to the epic performance at Webster Hall with HE IS LEGEND, ELIJAH CATRONE (vocals, guitar), JOSH CASTELLANO (bass, vocals),and KENTARO MOORE (drums, vocals) continued to bring it, earth shattering song after earth shattering song.
CATRONE formed the band in 2009 after searching for musicians to start up a project he had already had a name for. With drummer ANDREW HARTS and bassist HIRO YAMAO the band would play only three shows with a 3 song set. After creative differences HARTS left the band only 3 months into the band.
In 2010 CATRONE and YAMAO had put together a small demo with drummer CINQUE KEMP, a friend of CATRONE'S in high school who had agreed to only drum for the one recording as a favor. Thankful and eager the band promoted the demo as a chance to find a drummer to fill the spot. With great timing the band would have drummer KENTARO MOORE join as a full time member of JUMP FOR THE SAILS.
In 2012 JUMP FOR THE SAILS, with the help of engineer ETHAN BILL , began recording their first E.P., entitled THIS YEAR'S REDEMPTION. All thought the EP was never pressed, many unmarked copies were sold and mostly given out for free.
After many guitarist and line up changes the band would play hundreds of shows and begin to travel out of their hometown to find support and develop a strong east coast following. In 2014 due to personal reasoning bassist HIRO YAMAO was unfortunately asked to leave the band. That same month CATRONE asked bassist JOSH CASTELLANO another old high school friend to help them out in a great time of need. After only 2 weeks CASTELLANO learned all the songs and the band began to kick things into full gear. With new material the band was well on their way to recording.
Now in late 2014 JUMP FOR THE SAILS is currently preparing to record their first full length release. With nine songs from the previous EP and new sounds for old and new ears.
JFTS is currently performing live in the New York Tri-State area.
