Drummer Jett Raines and singer Stuart Leach met in December of 2008, when Jett heard Stuart playing at a small coffeehouse in North Dallas. The two, along with violinist and longtime friend Jeff McQuitty, began playing covers of songs in Jett's guest bedroom. However, without a bassist, they decided, this thing would never work. Luckily, Stuart had connections at the all-boy private school he attended, and, after much shy hesitation, summoned the courage to ask Matthew to play bass with them. It was a good fit.
Soon, they decided to write some songs of their own, and call the album that they had soon created "Outside Into Eyes EP." Quite some time after that, they decided to be called Seastroke and play some shows here and there.
