DC Power and Electric Bio
Take four highly talented players. Season those players with years of teaching, touring, gigging, producing, and songwriting. Add a full measure of passion for the blues, funk, and Americana rock and roll. The result is an amazingly nimble, powerful, and dynamic band called DC Power and Electric Company (DCPE). DCPE’s repertoire includes evocative, thrilling originals as well as a diverse, hand picked selection of covers guaranteed to delight any audience.
Each of the players in DCPE has years of experience and any one of them can stand on their own. In this band, however, the players selflessly tailor their playing to serve the music. At a DCPE show you can expect to be blown away by the seamless ebb and flow of the music as the delicate introductions give way to soaring leads and sensitive rhythm playing lends its support to the air-tight vocal harmonies.
Guitarist, vocalist and songwriter Dave Cannaday (DC) has been winning music awards since childhood. As an adult, he has won the title of “San Francisco King of the Blues” not once but four times! In 2005 DC finished in the top 5 of Guitar Centers National Guitarmageddon hosting 6k in entries. DC’s playing style is immediately recognizable and he uses his musical vocabulary to tell it like it is.
Guitarist, vocalist and songwriter Carmen Ratti is a veteran of the Bay Area Blues scene. His former band – The Skyline Blues Band – fused elements of gospel, rock, and blues and maintained an active performance schedule.
Drummer Garry Williams comes from a musical family – his father is in the Texas Rockabilly Hall of Fame. Garry’s style of playing and his devoted attention to the groove has made him an in-demand player across many genres. Garry also builds wonderful drums that he sells under the label “San Francisco Drum Company”.
Bassist, vocalist and songwriter Ben Levine has a diverse resume that includes a #3 Billboard charting bluegrass album, a featured appearance on a Grammy winning record, and touring stints with some of the biggest names in Country Music. His playing is unfailingly solid while also being unimaginably flexible.
Although these seasoned players have only recently teamed up they have already played several of the top blues clubs throughout the Bay Area, from Club Fox in Redwood City to The Torch Club in Sacramento, from the Main Street Brewery in Pleasanton to Half Moon Bay Brewery on the coast. Currently the band can be found every second Thursday holding down the coveted “Fried Chicken and Blues” night at San Francisco’s famed 7 Mile House.
