Electro City, a high energy, Black Leather Rock n' Roll Band, was formed in the summer of 2009 by four passionate Orange County locals; Edgar Exciter, Julian Aldaco, Edgar Treto, and Alex Morr. Tired of living in a city with little to no music scene and no places to gig, they decided to put Santa Ana on the map. Since their inception they have been on the fore-front of the scene by gigging relentlessly and maintaining a strong work ethic. They transcend the "norm" found in today's music and are creating a community of like minded musicians who are as enthusiastic about playing as they are about breaking down musical barriers set by today's mainstream.
A major contribution to the bands rapid growth has been their fast paced and energetic live shows. Sam Muñoz, writer for the Santanero Zine, describes this as, “… razor sharp rock and roll…” and “Electro City presents it’s audience a kind of rock n’ roll sublimity that takes its cue from recent post punk indie rockers such as Arctic Monkeys and The Strokes [adding] a Danzig like vocal approach to top of the treat.” Pertaining to lead singer Edgar Exciter’s performance he also writes, “[Edgar’s] sexy and erratic dance moves [are] reminiscent of what a dancing Mick Jagger might look like if he were under the influence of steroids or speed.”
Their first EP “Lullaby For The One With No Friends” features six solid songs that will get any person tapping their foot. Sounds of SoCal’s Stacy Lee calls the EP as a whole, “…catchy and makes the listener want to dance”, and adds “ its rock n’ roll with a twist of 60’s rock which blends into its own niche.”
Their very anticipated full length album was released on January 19th 2013. Self titled, Electro City, it created buzz around Orange County and cemented them atop the list of
bands you want to follow. In The Santanero Zine, Sam Muñoz writes, "Electro City is a rock ‘n’ roll band through and through. There is no shortage of rockin’ tunes that have been the signature of Electro City since their inception. There is more than enough here to please the palate of the loyal fans hoping to hear Electro City’s brand of fun and, at times, sexy rock ‘n’ roll. Nothing is lost in these recorded versions from their live counterparts, as they will have you dancing to their catchy rhythms, and smiling at Edgar Espino’s vocal charm."
Electro City is currently delving into new material; and collaboratively promoting and fine-tuning their sound. In 2011 they became Musician of the Year Nominees for RAW: Indie Arts Awards and were voted to stay by listeners on The Heidi and Frank Show’s segment, Stay or Go, by an amazingly high 84 percent. In 2013 they were nominated for Best Live Band for The OC Music Awards. Their music has played through the airwaves of Classic Glamour Dolls, The Heidi and Frank Show, Mutiny Radio (Nocturna segment with Alex Gahan every Sunday Night) in San Francisco as well as KALX 98.7 FM out of Berkeley. It is also available on iTunes and Spotify. Electro City is now proudly endorsed by Bona Fide Pomade (www.bonafidepomade.com)
