Born Timothy Simpson, On April 10, 1987, a Durham, North Carolinan, went to school at Hillside High School to study the arts. His original plan was to pursue a career in the music industry, but he had soon changed his mind and returned his love for words, an art form, according to him, has the potential to change his surroundings.
Having landed on the poetic radar like some kind of a phantom battleship, this Durham native continues to fires away at us, sinking nay-sayers and making a name for himself at a rate which some might consider alarming. It is at this point that Vespertine's growth as an artist should be marked as the Blue Raccoon FM's favorite artist in 2012 and a National Poetry Award Nominee.
With the release "Chikirin" (2011), an ethereal collage of neo-soul, jazz-, spoken word and hip-hop, and abstract broken beat. Vespertine takes you on a ride through his world, as he talks about his personal matters through emotional heavy wordplays. As a follow up to his first release "Spring Haze - EP" (2010), a blend of early experimental recordings with new-born writing. His latest release "Oasis", you see Ves' maturity lyrically. Which is probably why he scored two nominations at the 2012 National Poetry Awards? One for "Album of the Year" and "Single of the Year" for Oasis' coolest song "<3 feat. The IZM". Vespertine is currently working on another project and the long overdue "Datura" (which will be releasing soon).
