“We are all constantly faced with decisions that will either help or hinder our lives. Every moment is full of these thoughts. It is our daily battle as humans regardless of what we are told, taught or experience. There is and always will be a battle between instinct & education.
This being the case, I believe the most intense war we must fight in life, is the one going on inside of our own heads.” Lords of Ruin vocalist Lauren Boquette
The summer of 2010 gave birth to Orange County, CA newest spawn, Lords of Ruin.
A band with one simple mission, to bring back honest, powerful & heavy hard hitting rock & roll.
For many years now, metal has taken a turn into a mega-fast, double bass, growling, cookie monster type of a thing. Those elements are nowhere to be found here with Lords of Ruin.
This is big riffs, big choruses, head banging rhythms and words you not only hear, but feel.
Elements that Judas Priest, AC/DC, Metallica, Pantera and many others have combined before.
THIS is the metal that Lords of Ruin brings to the table and this is what has been destroying stages around Southern California since the band’s first show back in 2010 opening for Korn.
“That was one hell of a way to launch a new band states front man Lauren Boquette. “A sold out arena with Korn, in their hometown of Bakersfield CA, After that show, I knew we were onto something strong.”
Guitarist Jimmy Craig grew up in the Orange County underground metal scene playing in numerous bands, while Boquette toured extensively with his past projects Drown, Famous & SiX. The musicians all met through the love of music and started creating the beast which became Lords of Ruin.
Friends Eric Dilday, Corey Bush & Travis Dunn were all early members and recorded on the bands new Ep “Life is a War” but were then replaced by permanent members guitarist Chico Tovar, drummer Lagarto “Paco” Marley and bassist Anthony Robles
“Life is A War”, a 5 track Ep built on pure power & raw emotion, exploring topics ranging from inner strength and self-reliance to addiction and disillusionment.
Reality lives in these songs and is felt in every track.
Lead single “Welcome To The Last Time” takes the listener to the point of goodbye, when leaving someone behind is better than continuing to live in their misery.
“I’ve learned first-hand that misery loves company but being that company is draining and a waste of energy. You just can’t allow self-destructive, miserable people into your life, they will attempt to destroy your soul” explains Boquette
This need to move on is passionately delivered over a main riff that if guitarist Jimmy Craig’s creation doesn’t bring out your inner air guitar fury, then you must not have a heartbeat.
This is powerful music. Music that is meant to make you move, scream, dance, fight, live, love and feel completely alive.
Welcome to the new face of metal music or as the band likes to claims it “Hardcore Rock & Roll”
“Modern metal & rock music in general have become boring and corporate or overdone and mathematic. We just decided it was time to drag rock & roll back out into the streets where it really belongs! It is where the true fans are and since we are fans first, it is where we are… hope to see you all soon!" Guitarist Jimmy Craig
LIFE IS A WAR was recorded and released by 1605 Records with distribution through Sullen Musik.
