Performer, composer, arranger, recording engineer, teacher and recording artist Jacob Wynne is a graduate of St. Ignatius High School, and Youngstown State University, with a Bachelor Degree in jazz studies. During his time at YSU, he studied under Tony Leonardi, Kris Krummel, Jack Schantz, Dave Morgan, and Kent Englehardt, and had the opportunity to perform with the Dave Holland Quintet. The recipient of the 2010 Cleveland Scene Magazine Music Award for "Best Horn", he is equally comfortable in the worlds of jazz and commercial music, as well as blues, funk, motown, afrobeat, brazilian, hip hop, reggae, and Latin American music. He regularly performs, tours, and records in situations which draw upon his experience in all of these genres. A short list of Northeast Ohio area artists and bands with which Mr. Wynne has appeared include: UP Ensemble, Cleveland Jazz Initiative, Damian Knapp, Rice and Beans Latin Jazz Ensemble, Mifune, Moises Borges, Carlos Jones and the P.L.U.S. Band, Nightbridge, Luca Mundaca, Clarence Bucaro, Roberto Ocasio Latin Jazz Project, Replife, MOJO Big Band, Oblique Orchestra, Playground Soul Band, and the Revolution Brass Band. He is also a first-call session player for American Greetings Music Studios, and has led his own group (the Jacob Wynne Ensemble) since 2003.
