Like most musicians, I cut my teeth on my folks' old vinyl collection; mostly Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings, George Jones, Elvis Presley, Merle Haggard, and the Rolling Stones. My mom played and sang a little, so there was always a guitar around the house. I was always intrigued musical instruments as a kid, and used to pick them up from time to time, but never got really serious until high school. I've always sang, but never much at all publicly until the early 90s, when I started hitting the opries around the four corners area of Missouri, Iowa, Kansas, and Nebraska. I played in a couple of classic rock/blues bands, and even one metal/thrash band most recently. I cut one solo album a little over a decade ago, and of course, ran off to Nashville" a couple of times. Of all the time I've spent playing music though, about the only time I've really enjoyed it was when I did my own thing. Anything else was just like digging ditches with someone else trying to dictate everything I do. I now play solo gigs wherever I find them, try to get back into songwriting a little, and hope to get started back on that second recording project real soon. In the meantime—come out and see me sometime!
