Jocelyn Wilson was born on February 4th, 1988. Jocelyn spent a very large part of her early life in Southern California, where she experienced most of her childhood memories. Growing up, Jocelyn’s family was very musically oriented. From hearing the loud music her parents always played in the family room, to having her family take her to a variety of concerts and musical theatre acts at a young age, Jocelyn learned to appreciate different genres of music.
During the early years of her life, she began to fully explore and immerse in the world of the arts. Jocelyn started dancing at the age of four and began competing on a national competition team, at the age of nine. Jocelyn was very active in a variety of organizations throughout her years of education. In elementary school, she joined the school choir and also learned to play the piano, guitar, cello, and violin. She also had a private singing instructor since the age of ten in which she studied opera, classical music, and musical theater. Throughout middle and high school, she was a member of the Kramer Middle School and El Dorado’s dance team, and also taught dance classes at her high school. During high school, she was also in choir as well as performed her own singing shows at venues around Los Angeles and at the Muckenthaler Cultural Center in Fullerton.
Jocelyn attained multiple awards and distinctions while she was a member of the associated student body and peer assistant leadership, where she learned how to become a better leader and role-model to those around her. In middle school, she was elected to be a part of vocal ensemble and help instruct choir classes. In June, 2001, she was honored with receiving the Directors Award scholarship presented by her middle school choir director. Jocelyn started writing music at the age of twelve and the first song she wrote was in dedication to her aunts’ passing of cancer, which was chosen by the city mayor to be sung at the Cancer Relay for Life organization.
Jocelyn graduated from Santa Ana College, and is currently in school for surgical technology. Jocelyn runs and teaches the Happy Feet Dance Program at Mather Dance Company. Some of Jocelyn’s favorite singers include Mariah Carey, Janis Joplin, Sinead O’Conner, Annie Lennox, Dolores O'Riordan, Elvis Costello, Josh Groban, Tori Amos, and many more. When she is not at school or working, she loves photography as well as doing make-up and hair, and loves spending time with her closest friends and family.
