THE ‘BLUE EYED PERSUASION’
Born and raised in Brooklyn, NY, Robert Pou, aka the “Blue Eyed Persuasion”, a Singer/Guitarist/Songwriter/Actor took an early interest in music before he even started school. He would stare at the radio while the music was playing and wonder how the band would get in and out of that little box! He would look in the holes on the side just to see if he could see them playing. Before his teens he was in a Catholic school choir and was taught how to follow music in it’s simplest form. At the age of 12 he was taught 3 basic major chords on the guitar and have never looked back since.
Self taught with only two advantages; an ear for music and determination!, Robert wouldn’t get into the Blues until he was in his early 30's when by then he could relate to the sound and spirituality that brings that soulful feeling to a song. After all, it is all about the feeling that makes a song great!
Robert is one of those rare talents that blossomed later in life, realizing his true potential with the encouragement of friends, family and other musicians he’d meet on the NYC music scene. His covers of soulful Ballads, Classic Rock standards, the Blues and even some Latin Soul has earned him great respect on the NYC live music scene. “Raised in Brookly in the 60's, I was influenced at an early age by 50's Doowop and 60's Rock and Soul from The Beatles and The Stones to Bob Dylan and Motown. I was taught to play guitar at the age of 12. Three major guitar chords and I was on my way. Self taught, I discovered my own style of playing and have incorporated it in the songs I write. In my late 30's I took an interest in the Blues and listened to Jimi Hendrix, Stevie Ray Vaughn, and Eric Clapton. A love for song lyrics and soulful melodies, I continue to try to write songs from outside the box. I want to be different, stand out from all the other artists; to take music forward while having a grasp, inspiration and knowledge of the music of the past.”
Robert took the stage name, The Blue Eyed Persuasion recently and it stuck with friends and fans. At the suggestion of friends and his manager, who noticed that he had charismatic presence that could make him an in-demand actor, Robert has taken up an interest in acting and hopes to land many roles in the future.
