Leland Williams / Bio

Central Texas has been home to Leland Williams since he was 8 years old. Growing up just north of Austin, Leland spent the summers playing baseball across the Lone Star State. After a successful high school career, Leland accepted a scholarship to play college ball where he was an all conference shortstop for the 2004 Richland College NJCAA World Series Championship team. While in college, Leland received his first guitar as a Christmas present from his grandparents. He gradually started teaching himself how to play and started writing songs. Leland made a move to Nashville in February 2008 to pursue a career in music. In 3 short months, Leland had secured nightly gigs at several of the Lower Broadway Honky Tonks including Legend’s Corner, The Wheel, Full Moon Saloon, The Second Fiddle, The Crossroads, and The Stage. After nearly 300 shows in his first year and a half, he decided to take a break from performing and focus on writing. Over the next 6 months, Leland moved out to a cattle farm just south of Nashville with friend and songwriter Keaton Allen. Here, his first album “Fire” came to life. Williams and Allen wrote or co-wrote every song on the first album and Leland recorded and released it in early 2010. While the finishing touches of the record were being done, Leland teamed up with Alabama legend Wayne Mills for a 6 month tour across the southeast. After learning the ropes, Leland took his band across the country performing over 250 dates in 18 states in his first year out on the road. Some highlights were The Longbranch Saloon in Raleigh, NC, Toby Keith’s I Love This Bar in Denver, CO, Cowboy Bills in Key West, FL, Whiskey River in Macon, GA, Joyland Country in Bradenton,FL Zydeco in Birmingham, AL, 12th and Porter in Nashville, TN, The Peachtree Tavern in Atlanta, GA, and Cowboy’s in Dothan, AL. “We were constantly touring, spending maybe 5-8 days home a month. I loved it. I really enjoyed seeing the US through a windshield.” In September 2011, Leland moved back to Austin to leave his mark on the Lone Star State. With his first single “Fire” being released to Texas Radio on May 21, Leland is excited about sharing his music with his hometown crowd.
