A native of the San Francisco Bay Area, KOJI was born in Palo Alto and raised in Mountain View, California. His mother came to the country from Japan and married his father, an American who grew up in the Bay Area and on the East Coast. KOJI started his recording career at the age of 15 working with producers/recording artists he grew up with such as Klypso, MYK and Karizmakaze. In 2003 while residing in South Lake Tahoe he was re-united with Bay Area recording artist Hotpa and signed as part of Brotherhood Records, an independent record company from the Bay Area. Brotherhood Records evolved as time passed and became what is now known as We Out Here Entertainment. Over the next few years the label played several shows spanning the entire West Coast and started to branch into Japan.
In 2008, Hotpa and KOJI’s single “Joyridin” was a huge part of a compilation released in Japan entitled "Bayside." The album sold over 150,000 copies and the ringtone did 200,000 downloads. Since then, he has worked with some of the Bay Area’s foremost recording artists such as: E-40, San Quinn, Matt Blaque, Sunspot Jonz, Goldie of The Federation, Karizmakaze, 50 Cal, PeteWonder, Outrageous and Klypso. This February KOJI released his first American single entitled "All My Life" feat. PeteWonder. Sales and reviews have exceeded expectations and all signs point to a record year for We Out Here Ent. Tours and show schedule TBA for 2010.
