Jaraneh Nova, born a mix of Apache and other world cultures, was adopted and raised by an American family in Tucson, Arizona. Singing and playing piano and flute were an early source of musical joy for her. She grew up a part of the Sonoran Desert, riding horses through the days while writing songs in her heart. As a teen and young adult, she was attracted to theater and the avant garde. Jaraneh then began performing in plays, musicals and eventually film.
After fronting Tucson's psychedelic blues band, Blues Crusher, Jaraneh moved to Los Angeles and became involved in the underground art party scene, moontribes and eventually burning man. Her attraction to electronic music gave birth to her next few projects, Mercury Rubix, My Cosmic Love and Big Bone Lick.
Often compared with Buffy St. Marie and PJ Harvey, Jaraneh has a truly unique voice. Her lyrics are rich and inspiring; telling personal stories of devotion and spirit and love. Native wisdom and teachings are the thread woven into all of her music.
She is currently working on her next release, Love Dog Mama.
