Jamie Alonge is a soulful, rock singer and songwriter. His voice possesses a unique clarity that is full of heart. His melodies are seasoned yet fresh, with honest lyrics and a common-man sophistication. He is currently performing regularly while preparing to record his latest material.
In 2009, Jamie recorded three songs with two-time Grammy Award winning Producer, Seth Atkins Horan (Robbie Draco Rosa). Working with Horan was a life-changing experience for Jamie as a slew of studio veterans contributed to the project. Doug Pettibone (Jewel, Lucinda Williams, Ray Lamontagne) signed on for lead guitar duties. Artist/producer Chris Seefried (Rosanne Cash, Lo Stars) performed and arranged the background vocals. Multi-Grammy award winner Gavin Lurssen was behind the mastering (T Bone Burnett, Matchbox 20, Elvis Costello).
What separates Jamie from his peers is his eclectic background.
He is a Jewish/Sicilian American who grew up on the outskirts of Inglewood, Ca to a steady diet of Country-Folk and Hip-Hop."I was break-dancing during the day and singing John Prine songs at night." This was due to his troubadour step-father who upon entering Jamie's life in the 3rd grade, brought with him an overflowing songbook of Country-Folk, Outlaw Country, Southern and Classic Rock standards. At 15, he picked up the drums and soon became the lead drummer in his High-School Jazz Ensemble.
Since then, Jamie has explored Blues, Soul, Funk and Reggae while performing all over L.A. in numerous projects.
Jamie has met The Dalai Lama, participated in Peyote Ceremonies and dances Salsa. His originality and eclectic influences manifest onstage where he is visibly at home. This kid knows how to move and shatters any pre-conceived images of the "singer/songwriter."
