When Sheyana Wijesingha was born, London was swinging.
Jimi Hendrix and Cream were rocking and Led Zeppelin was championing an infectious mix of concept rock and blues. But among this mix, pop and folk were just as popular.
Sheyana moved to Tasmania from London as an eight year old and soon began making music of her own. Her own journey was preceded by her parents’ romantic meeting. Her Sri Lankan father and Tasmanian mother met on a ship bound for England, and perhaps taking inspiration from their meeting, Sheyana’s songwriting is often romantic and illustrated with images of distance, yearning and love. Her voice is dipped in blues, rock and folk and with guitarist Scott Mainwaring it soars gently above an acoustic ballad, struts confidently to Mainwaring’s impassioned guitar licks and swaggers to candid tales of love and heartbreak.
The musical melting pot Sheyana was born into has left a profound mark on the singer-songwriter allowing her to blend and create a sound that is as strong and emotive as it is accessible.
Boasting a velvety voice with that infusion of blues, folk, rock and whisky, respected Tasmanian artist 'Sheyana', has released her long-awaited EP – “Sweet Honesty”, following her 2003 debut album, “Firehorse”, with a new dynamic EP full of impassioned acoustic ballads.
Teaming with musical chameleon and long time collaborator Scott Mainwaring, Sheyana’s song writing and magnetic on stage presence has not gone unrecognized, supporting some of Australia’s most respected musicians including Renee Geyer, Diesel, The Angels, Ian Moss and Bill Chambers.
This exciting Tasmanian Act captivate their audience with honest, soulfelt poetry and their powerful stomping union delivers an incomparable live performance, integrating show stopping original tracks and classic covers.
Scott having toured extensively with his former band ‘Pale Riders’, performed at Byron Bay Blues Festival in 1998, with a National Blues Award under his belt.

The video clip of her song ‘Undone’,which is the opening track from her latest EP was filmed while on tour in Sri Lanka and can be viewed on Youtube.
