Erika grew up in the suburbs of San Francisco California into a very non-musical family. But that didn't stop her, from the time she was 7 years of age and demanding piano lessons until her graduation of the University of California, Davis with a degree in music composition and a focus in vocal performance, Erika has worked hard to prove that music is a dream is worth pursuing.
Erika received her Bachelor's of Arts from the University of Davis, California in Music Composition. She has been a member of the UCD chamber singers where she appeared in a UCD production of Henry Percell's opera, Dido and Æneas. In addition, she has sung with the Sacramento Philharmonic chorus, performing in Gustav Holtz 'The Planets', and a semi staged version of Rogers and Hammerstein's 'Carousel'.
During her Master's study, Erika focused on the affects that musical aptitudes has on other learning domains. She conducted a study aimed to uncover a correlation between musical and beginning literacy aptitudes in preschool students. The results indicated a moderate correlation across age-groups. This is consistent with the literature; however further studies are needed to strengthen the reliability of the results.
