Red Molly / Bio

Since 2004, Americana trio Red Molly has been bringing audiences to their feet with gorgeous three-part harmonies, crisp musicianship, and their warm, engaging stage presence. The band consists of Laurie MacAllister (bass), Abbie Gardner (dobro) and Molly Venter (guitar). Nine years of touring and recording has earned Red Molly a large, devoted fanbase, who like to call themselves "RedHeads".

In 2012, the ladies were invited to open multiple shows for music legend Willie Nelson, and they performed at the venerable RockyGrass festival in CO. Their latest CD "Light in the Sky" spent 20 weeks on the Americana Music Association's Top 40 radio chart and charted as Folk DJ's #3 Top Album of 2012.

In 2013, the band spent the month of March touring throughout Australia, and in August headed to Europe for the first time, for Denmark's Tonder Festival. They also appeared for the third time at NC's legendary music gathering, MerleFest.

September 2013 marks Red Molly's 4th appearance at the Bristol Rhythm and Roots Reunion, where in September 2012 the Bristol Herald Courier dubbed them "The Twin City's Sweethearts", saying the band "lit up the stage, as a massive crowd of adoring fans sat mesmerized by their silky smooth harmonies and superb musicianship."

Red Molly is hard at work on their follow-up to "Light in the Sky", to be released during the year of their 10th anniversary. The new CD will feature more original songs than any previous album, as well as a sweet surprise that promises to make all "RedHeads" very happy …
"Red Molly may be from New York, but their bluegrass and old-time gospel sounds and buoyant three-part harmonies are so down-home it's as if their notes are carried to you on the crisp air of the Ozarks."
