obe / Bio

(Originally known as) ‘Orders of the British Empire’ formed in London in 2009 with a line up which now only contains 1 original member; the current foursome have been playing together since 2012 when they discovered the secret to playing music with an explosive live performance while all the time enjoying every second they’re together (a trait which one can’t help but feel a part of in their company). 2013 was the year they wrote and recorded their debut album ‘Partners’. Taking some time away from the live scene and concentrating their efforts in the studio where the band (and the riffs!) were solidified and the newer line up began to build on their established ‘post-rock’ sound.

Putting the band into a specific genre is no easy task; they each have a passion for a wide variety of music which becomes apparent in their craftsmanship. Artists ranging from Frank Zappa, Birthday Party & King Crimson to the more recognisable names of 65dos, Russian Circles and The Mars Volta. Some might place this brotherhood within the Prog-Rock bracket, others maybe Shoegaze or Post-Rock, but perhaps most comprehensively they are known simply as Instrumental Rock. Regardless of their official genre they approach composition with fun, volume and performance reward in mind, while all the time encompassing their own unique flavour.

obe’s debut album is currently being self-released in Feb 2014. With the record being complete the drive is now on to reach as many people as possible.
If you would like obe to personally subject you to their noise please do get in touch. They will generally play anywhere.
