From Blue to Gray / Bio

From Blue To Gray is a five piece progressive metal outfit from Mt. Pleasant Michigan, for fans of Between The Buried And Me, Lamb Of God, Cattle Decapitation, Opeth, The Contortionist, Toothgrinder, and many others. Formed in 2008 by founding members Tim Drexler (guitar), Jordan Myers (bass), Dan Graham (drums), and Dale Fewless (vocals), the band quickly gained a reputation locally for highly energetic and utterly unpredictable performances. Their blend of technical and equally devastating riffs is complemented by a conscious effort to not overlook neither melody nor interesting transitions. On their live performance, Chuck Marshall of National Rock Review says, "From Blue To Gray literally blew me away. I think it can be hard when bands of this caliber are playing the second stage at a metal show as you want to see them with some room to spread out and destroy. Smaller stage be damned, From Blue To Gray unleashed the hell hounds and screaming blood soaked words of unrelenting suffering. This band is tight, technical, and just my cup of fucking tea."

After spending some time perfecting their signature sound, From Blue To Gray settled on a final lineup in June of 2012 with the addition of Dave Jaber on guitar. At the same time, they released their debut EP, Into The Sun independently. The record sold over 600 copies locally and digitally, and achieved radio play on several corporate radio stations in Michigan, Ohio, and Illinois including 101.1 in Detroit as well as several nationally recognized internet radio stations, most notably Hard Edge Radio on Tapdetroit.com. Howie D, of Hard Edge summarized, "Few bands represent what Michigan Metal is all about. Mt Pleasant’s From Blue To Gray is one of those bands. Michigan Metal at its absolute finest". The debut featured "Terrible Among The Fierce", accompanied with a professionally directed music video by Roy Warner (Battlecross, Rose Funeral, Dead Sky, Havok). Chuck, of NRR had this to say of the record, "The EP from Michigan metal band From Blue To Gray will leave you wondering why you haven't heard of them before now. From Blue To Gray are a formidable metal band from Mount Pleasant, Michigan who plays with the technical precision of a scalpel and devastation of a nuclear weapon..." He continued, "The musical and physical magnitude of their live performance is mesmerizing. Their on-stage prowess is matched equally in the studio, something you will discover upon listening…”

After years of steadily and consistently playing shows in Michigan, as well as Illinois and Ohio, From Blue To Gray has become fixture in the local circuit. They have earned a reputation for delivering extremely passionate and energetic performances, and are recognized for their well thought out songwriting. From Blue To Gray has earned the respect of their peers by being a fun and reliable group of musicians. They are band that you can always expect 100% out of them, and you will 100% of the time have no idea what will happen once they start playing. This is a band that literally will not stop until they have the attention of everyone.
