Fourth generation Texan, Scotty Lee Shuffield is a Texas Music singer-songwriter with leanings to Americana, Progressive Texas Country/Folk, Blues and TropRock Music. His rambling lifestyle began in 1951, when he was born in Dallas. Living three of his early years in Germany, he spent the remainder of his youth growing up throughout Texas. Learning to play the guitar at age 10, Scotty Lee spent most of his youth and early adult life adapting rock, blues, folk and country music into his own personal eclectic style.
At age nineteen, he ventured out into the world, living all over the globe, in pursuit of a naval career. During those years, he added ukulele and mountain dulcimer to his musical quiver; playing mostly for friends; sharing his music in the comfort of living rooms, back porches, at kitchen tables, or around cozy wood stoves and friendly campfires. Shortly before his retirement from the Navy in 1997, he was challenged by friends to start writing his own songs. He accepted their challenge and soon found life would never been the same. In April, 2000, he returned home to his native Texas, following a twenty-nine year absence. Finding himself quickly ushered into the local Texas Music scene, he immersed himself in it, This became a major part of his life, forging his own style of Texas Music, laced with ever-expanding influences from his nomadic, coastal, tropical and maritime experiences.
Scotty Lee is affiliated with BMI, is an active member of the Academy of Texas Music, a charter member of the Margarita M.A.F.I.A., and is a former Membership Director for the Fort Worth Songwriters Association. In recent years, he has performed at clubs and coffeehouses, as well as numerous songwriter showcases, campouts, festivals and benefit concerts throughout North, Central and East Texas; Oklahoma, Louisiana and Arkansas. Scotty Lee's Americana and Texas Music stylings pay homage to his Texas heritage. His Trop Rock, Coastal and Tropical oriented tunes spring from his love of the ocean and the fact that he has spent the majority of his life living in some kind of coastal environment.
